Toms to launch 'co-lab' footwear and ready-to-wear collection
Words: Tomo Kembery
The new ready-to-wear collection is complimented by four reinterpreted Toms styles, such as the Lexie sandal and the Palmera Chukka lace up booties with moccasin details. To support the new collection, the two brands tapped photographer Nathalie Joos and her long-time friend, model Erin Wasson for the Toms & Other Stories campaign.
”The giving aspect of this co-lab gives it an extra dimension,” said Georgine Le Toqueux, designer at & Other Stories. “Inspired by Toms idea that two strangers on either sides of the planet or the street, can enrich each other’s lives, we created this collection. The goal was to combine modern shapes and embellishment that feel authentic with beautiful details, putting a lot of love into it.”
& Other Stories made California its home in March by opening a design studio in Los Angeles, its third design studio joining locations in Sweden and Paris. The Scandinavian brand also collaborated with artists and designers from California in the past. The first collection designed by the brand’s Los Angeles team launched on March 30 at 50 & Other Stories locations.
Toms has also partnered with several designers and brands in recent years, including Prabal Gurung, The Hill-Side, and the Keith Haring Foundation, among others. The footwear brand founded by Blake Mycoskie celebrated its 10-year anniversary in 2016 with a special edition shoe and with its annual One Day Without Shoes initiative.
The co-lab will be available at select Toms and & Other Stories locations and online.
The California-based brand launched footwear with the H&M-owned label as part of its Co-Lab series, and the new collection, which launches on April 11, expands on their partnership with ready-to-wear styles such as kimonos, vests, jackets and flowing dresses in various lengths.
