DIRTY BONES RESTAURANT! FUCK YOU BY TOMO KEMBERY
Words: Tomo Kembery
DirtyBones was once a pop up....What wasn't.....
Then somehow it managed to secure some funding from a venture capitalists....What luck!
At first i throught this looks pretty cool, who ever is behind this has got their shit together....
However what may all be cocktails and parties from the outside, is not the truth from the inside. Things are indeed looking a little DIRTY.
So i went for an interview :-)
When you take Venture Capital they normally given some posh, total dick head of a bloke that has no idea about the runnings of a restaurant, but knows about money...Enter "Cokey"
Cokey is around 50 years old, tall, skinny and posh. Most likely a mate from someone from the agency.
As we sat down for my interview he seems a little nervous, like he didn't actually know what he was doing. He has in fact just emailed me about 30mins before to ask if we was still on for the interview.... (Yes Cokey i had already confirmed the day before!!)
He then turns up late leaving me in a small office above Nike on waldorf street.
Some hipster with a beard walks in "Are you Theo?" No i said.
As i enter the small board room the beard follows me "Sorry mate"
At this point he still didn't introduce himself or say what he was at the company.
I go on to explain my experience in the restaurant industry and what i have been up to.
Cokey goes on to explain what a mess the business is in, and that the bearded bloke was a chef consultant employed to try and sort it all out in the next 6 months.
Never a good sign when you need to bring in the consultants....makes you wonder how the fuck it was even given any money in the first place if they cant ever sort out the food.
What a mess....The beard still doesn't speak.
They never emailed or called me to say thank you for coming in...What a cunt.
i went to the restaurant of the first time the other week. The food was basic...overpriced and lacked flavour, the cocktails where thrown together and to sweet.
A total distaster!!
Recently Dirty Bones announced it would be expanding, however nothing seems to have come of it yet.
i would suggest that the venture capitalists firm cash out as quick as possible.
But hay...thats what cool right now yer :-/
